- Infection control — 1 hour
- Ethics (ethical considerations in dental hygiene practice) — 1 hour
- CPR/Basic Life Support (every 2 years, in-person, 2–4 hrs credit)* — 2 hours
- General CE — 10 hours

Important Information
Dental hygienists in Alabama need to complete a total of 12 hours of continuing education each year, including one hour of Infection control and one hour of Ethics (ethical considerations in dental hygiene practice); the rest can be general CE of your choosing. A few additional topics apply only in certain situations — see the asterisked items above.
Renewal periods in Alabama run one year and end on September 30 for every licensee. Complete all required hours before that date.
