- Law and Ethics — 6 hours
- Suicide risk assessment and intervention (one-time, post-Jan 1 2021 renewees)* — 6 hours
- Telehealth (one-time, post-Jul 1 2023 renewees)* — 3 hours
- General CE — 30 hours

Important Information
Family therapists in California need to complete a total of 36 hours of continuing education every two years, six hours of which are in Law and Ethics, and the rest can be general CE of your choosing. A few additional topics apply only in certain situations — see the asterisked items above.
Your renewal period runs two years and ends on the last day of your birth month — not your birthday itself. Complete all required hours before that date.
